Counseling Work With Jonathan

Inclusive. All are welcome. Over 25+ years I have worked with nearly every imaginable life experience, diverse lifestyle and cultural background, and a vast range of challenges and setbacks.

Integrative. I will help you to blend and interconnect multiple areas of life and wellbeing.

Spiritual: Meaning & identity are always key elements of change, and we can explore this area of your life as deeply as you choose.

Coaching: I tend towards an approach that is empowering, educational at times, and action oriented. I am interested in your independence and steps you can take today.

Q&A

"The human being is an intricate and complex system, made infinite by our creative power, intuition, and constantly changing contexts. We are all unique in how we face life best and how we are impacted and hurt can be extremely different and distinct for each of us.

Our life long drive for safety, meaning and authenticity in a world of material limits, changing relationships, and shifting biological forces, leads to unexpected challenges and choices: things get messy and difficult.

The desire to seek healing, purpose, and transformation, or simply a deeper understanding of how to live well, should be held within a container and consciousness as expansive and adaptive as you are.

A reliable Guide in life is willing to supportively challenge, credibly inform, and offer unconditional companionship to a process of discovery, healing, and self-remembering.

I like to address what matters most to you today in the greater context of your personal growth, life purpose, past-experience, and most inspired future wholeness. The focus of my approach is not one method or another, each client is the focus of my approach and we use whatever tools, teachings and therapies that offer the most benifit. And, if I don't have the skill you need, I'll help you find someone who does.

What types of issues can we address?

I see people regarding nearly all the types of issues you might expect to take to a therapist, psychologist, life or executive coach, or spiritual guide. I tend to draw limit where people require a more traditional bio-medical approach, a more research based perspective, or a psychological background with a strong focus on mental health issues involving complex trauma.

I have a network of providers and organizations I refer to and collaborate with.

Does he have a special focus or area of work?

I am comfortable and experienced with a wide range of "issue" types.

In terms of topics I love to help with and have a lot of experience with:

Relationship Conflict, Coping and Change

Lifestyle & wellbeing

Stress Management

Addiction

Authenticity Issues

Leadership development

Spiritual growth and healing

What makes my work unique?

If you'd like to use tools beyond talking and feeling, I love to share my approach to integrate complimentary and spiritual practices, such as guided imagery, past life regression, ceremony, nature based experiences and more. Just ask.

What types of clients and issues are not suited for my work?

If your primary focus is to find support to address a serious, debilitating complex trauma, or an ongoing mental health condition, this may not be a fit for you. I do work with trauma survivors, I do address trauma, and I can support people with mental health conditions. However, when any of these issues are the main focus of your need for support, you will be much better in the care of a licensed, certified clinician or medical professional.

Where do I have my appointment?

Currently, I will be taking in person appointments in Courtenay, BC, on Mondays between 10 and 3.

I also do online sessions most days of the week - subject to availability. A combination of online and in person appointments is common. For non-local clients, I can work 100% online.

I am available for special nature based or group sessions as agreed.

What Is Integrative Spiritual Coaching?

Integrative Spiritual Coaching is a passion and unique strength of mine.

I use the word "spiritual" to refer to your ultimate story of meaning, identity, purpose, and worldview. For some, these may be completely free from religion, metaphysics, or philosophy, for others, these life elements are embedded in or are reflective of spiritual systems and traditions. All approaches are welcome, but I do not work with life issues independent of these core life elements.

In my work there is no experience that can be treated in isolation of your total self, life path, and evolving worldview. In my work the "issue" is rarely the issue, and I am always keen to explore how our changes, challenges, and "problems" can help to feel more whole, more free, or to serve our path of greater connection to self, life, and Spirit.

Meaning, purpose, self-knowing, and emotional freedom are all keys to my work, and I draw from an inclusive and expansive approach to "spirituality", which can serve anyone from an atheist to a person of deep religious faith.

If you are involved with a spiritual practice, tradition or deep process of growth, I have extensive experience as a companion and guide to help.
